New coastal RecycleOn Centers make it easier to recycle more

New free drop-off sites in Lincoln City and Newport accept items that do not belong in curbside recycling bins.

Residents and visitors on the Central Oregon Coast now have two new free places to recycle items that are not accepted in home or business recycling bins. In partnership with North Lincoln Sanitary and Thompson’s Sanitary, RecycleOn Centers are now open in Lincoln City and Newport, making it easier for coastal communities to recycle more materials the right way.

By the end of 2027, more than 140 RecycleOn Centers are planned across Oregon , ensuring every county has access to expanded recycling services.  These Centers help keep items that do not belong out of curbside bins, support safer and more efficient recycling facilities and make sure more materials are recycled responsibly.

“We started a recycling center in 1985, which reflects our community’s long-standing commitment to sustainability,” said Lexi Howell at North Lincoln Sanitary Service. “The new RecycleOn Center gives people a way to recycle items we have never been able to accept before. We are proud to offer more recycling options to our customers and show residents and visitors how much we care about protecting the Oregon Coast. “

Before you visit, check what is accepted and make sure items are empty and dry. Bringing only accepted items helps ensure the materials are recycled and keeps the drop-off experience simple for everyone.

Accepted Items
 The new RecycleOn Centers accept the following items, which should not go in home or business recycling bins:

• Plastic bags and stretchy plastic
• Plastic lids
• Plastic screw-on caps
• Plastic package handles
• Plastic buckets and pails
• Shredded paper in a closed paper bag
• Empty, dry aluminum foil and trays

RecycleOn Centers give Oregonians a convenient, no-cost way to recycle items that are not accepted in their home or work recycling bins. Thanks to Oregon’s Recycling Modernization Act, the brands and companies that make paper and packaging help fund these Centers, so more materials can be collected and recycled responsibly.
