First RecycleOn Center Opens in Eugene

New free drop-off site at BRING Recycling Engages Eugene Residents at Local Non-Profit

Great news for residents of Eugene! In partnership with BRING Recycling, a new RecycleOn Center is now open. This brings expanded recycling to the area, making it easier for materials not collected curbside to be recycled and turned into something new.

By the end of 2027, more than 140 RecycleOn Centers are planned across Oregon.   These Centers help keep items that do not belong out of curbside bins, support safer and more efficient recycling facilities and make sure more materials are recycled responsibly.

“Our customers already know BRING as a place where materials get a second chance. By launching the first RecycleOn Center in Lane County, we’re making it easier for residents to manage materials that don’t belong in curbside bins, while also donating reusable building materials, garden supplies, tools, and more” said Emily Reynolds, Director of Education and Outreach. “We think our customers will be thrilled to have a single place where they can keep even more materials in circulation.”

BRING Recycling has a long history of being sustainably minded, dating back to 1971 when volunteers took waste matter into their own hands and collected 400 tons of glass while inspiring the Eugene community to “reduce, reuse, recycle”.

With their Planet Improvement Center, community members can shop sustainably and learn about creative reuse and renewable energy. Your visit to BRING can serve as a stop for upcycled art, education on circular economy and now with a RecycleOn Center, the ability to steer things away from the landfill.

Before you visit, check what is accepted and make sure items are empty and dry. Bringing only accepted items helps ensure the materials are recycled and keeps the drop-off experience simple for everyone.

Accepted Items
The new RecycleOn Centers accept the following items, which should not go in home or business recycling bins:

  • Plastic bags and stretchy plastic
  • Plastic lids
  • Plastic screw-on caps
  • Plastic package handles
  • Plastic buckets and pails (these are allowed in your recycling bin at home, but might take up more space than you have)
  • Shredded paper in a closed paper bag
  • Empty, dry aluminum foil and trays

RecycleOn Centers give Oregonians a convenient, no-cost way to recycle items that are not accepted in their home or work recycling bins. Thanks to Oregon’s Recycling Modernization Act, the brands and companies that make paper and packaging help fund these Centers, so more materials can be collected and recycled responsibly.
